Shaughn Cooper is a Maryland born self taught photographer. His portfolio ranges from concert photography, wedding photography, to product photography and plenty more. A bulk of his work is mainly geared towards providing his audience with intimate shots of upcoming artists and current events.
The 6.20 Exhibition consists of images that he shot from his first protest. He documents the raw emotion and power that he felt for himself and from others during the protest.
“Shooting these protests felt like the first time in my life that I fought for something. Ever since, I’ve felt fatigued, but I’ve also felt empowered— empowered to create a better tomorrow for my future kids, my nieces and nephews; empowered to help my fellow brothers and sisters help dismantle a racist system that our parents, grandparents and great grandparents also had to fight against. I feel like we may be close to the end of it ….. there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done though.”
