Born May, 5 1994 in Olongapo City, Philippines and raised overseas as a military child, Maryann Taruc (Tahrook) has a distinctive perspective on the world. Tahrook is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in the vibrant art scene of Washington, DC.

She started studying art as an infant and proceeded to explore abstract expressionism and the depths of her own heart and mind. She also studied at Corcoran School of the Arts to further her knowledge in abstract and fine art.

She is currently an artist in residence at The Kennedy Center and also spends a lot of her artistic time at a studio downtown DC at the Independent Sector, an association of the nation’s non-profit organizations. Her other creative interests include doing tattoos, djing, and film photography.
