Since we started hosting young, emerging artists at our new Wellfleet Artist Retreat on Cape Cod, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting many new friends. Many are artists, all love, support and appreciate art and understand to their core how important art is to the health and spirit of individuals, communities and society in general. It has been a particular pleasure to get to know many of the current fellows at Provincetown’s historic and venerable Fine Arts Work Center. They are superlatively talented young writers and visual artists from across the country, and several of them have been particularly generous to our resident artists–taking them under their wings and providing mentorship, support and friendship. I am grateful to the FAWC fellows for their generous spirit, for their comradery and for their contagiously positive insistence that a better world is possible. I encourage you to get to know them, and get to know their work. Visit the FAWC website to learn more.  (Above is a picture of one of AOK’s resident artists, poet Rodney Johnson, with amazing FAWC Fellow, painter Autumn Wallace at a super-fun dinner at our house last December.) Getting to know the FAWC fellows this year is one of our top reasons why we’re so glad we decided to start the Artist Retreat Program! You guys ROCK!
