We hope you all are holding up during this unsettling and stressful time. We just wanted to let you know that AOK takes the corona virus very seriously and we are urging you to do the same. For the time being, we will not be holding Thursday Night Dinners until further notice. We will also not be doing any residencies in Wellfleet until the situation clears up. We will keep you posted as we learn more. We urge everyone in the AOK community to take this virus very seriously and follow all the recommendations of health authorities. If you can stay home, please do so! That said, we will be keeping in touch with everyone and looking for opportunities to connect in a virtual way. Also, if anyone in the AOK community has concerns or is feeling anxious and just wants to talk, let us know!
We’re including a couple of links. The first is a link to a very thorough list of resources for artists in this uncertain time. It’s very helpful–check it out! The second is a listing of artists who’ve lost work as a result of the virus. If anyone in our community needs help with creative projects, we encourage you to reach out to folks on this list. You can also make donations directly to them from this list.
If we are all very careful now and do our best to physically keep to ourselves, we as a community will ‘flatten the curve’ and we will all come through this. This will be less stressful if we can find ways to connect that don’t involve physical proximity. A great example of this is Silkroad’s ‘Home Sessions’, where Silkroad musicians will share short musical performances on Facebook and Instagram. It’s a great example of how we can be there for each other even when ‘sheltering in place.’
Again, please contact us if you have any questions, concerns or just need to hear a comforting voice.
